Studied art to School Certificate level, St Philip’s Grammar School, Birmingham, England. Emigrated to Australia in 1965, after studying at King’s College (Durham University), Newcastle upon Tyne and teaching geography and physics at Gosforth Grammar School, Northumberland. Was a member of the academic staff at the University of New England (Armidale) and The University of Newcastle (geography and environmental sciences) from 1965, until retirement in December 1997.
Has exhibited oil, watercolour and pastel paintings in group exhibitions at the University of New England, von Bertouch Galleries (Collectors Choice), Armstrong and Morpeth Galleries, Studio 48, Nanshe Gallery (with Janet de Vries) and Newcastle Art Society. Produced artwork for posters and programmes for University of Newcastle choir.
Principally a landscape painter, with beach scenes, Lake Macquarie and outback Australia amongst favourite subjects in watercolour and pastel.
Was awarded the Joe Punshon Silver Palette Award, Newcastle Art Society, in 2008 and 2016.
